Shortlist the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 Combo for a 256 mm cube and included four-color CANVAS system; compare the Creality K1C 2025 if a smaller enclosed machine better fits your projects and space. Both observed base offers sit below US$1,000, leaving room to compare the complete material workflow.
This is a researched buying guide based on manufacturer documentation, not a hands-on test or measured ranking. Recommendations below are our interpretation of the documented features and the stated use case.
Price check: October 9, 2026 (UTC). Listed US-dollar prices are observations from manufacturer product pages, before tax and any shipping or import charges. They are not checkout quotes or a guarantee of stock. Select the exact variant and delivery address before comparing totals.

Compare exact current variants
| Model | Observed US price | Build volume | Purchase question |
|---|---|---|---|
| ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 Combo | $399 | 256 × 256 × 256 mm | Will you use the included CANVAS color system? |
| Creality K1C 2025 | $499 | 220 × 220 × 250 mm | Does its smaller size fit your work and available space? |
The Centauri Carbon 2 Combo page identifies an enclosed design; do not confuse it with the open Centauri 2 Combo or the original Centauri Carbon. Creality's K1C 2025 listing and 2025 manual establish the second variant and size.
The lower observed price makes the ELEGOO worth investigating first for this particular feature set. It does not prove better reliability, lower noise, or faster printing. We have not conducted those comparisons, and merchant reviews are not our own test evidence.
Define why you need an enclosure
Write down the material and object that led you here. Keeping the build area enclosed is a design feature; an actively heated chamber, a particular chamber temperature, and a specified filtration system are separate claims. Do not infer them from glass panels or the word “enclosed.”
For ordinary PLA projects, compare the manufacturer's instructions for lids, doors, and cooling. A fully closed setup is not automatically the correct setting for every filament. For a material needing more controlled conditions, check its exact grade against the printer's documented support and process requirements.
An enclosure is not a guarantee that emissions are removed, a printer is quiet enough for a bedroom, or every high-temperature material will work. Evaluate placement and operation from the machine and filament instructions. This buying comparison does not certify any room or material workflow.
Let a real model decide how much space matters
A 235 × 180 × 70 mm tray illustrates the difference. In that flat orientation it exceeds a 220 mm axis, while it falls inside a 256 mm nominal square before allowing for brims and margins. Rotation or splitting may change the outcome, so inspect the actual mesh in each printer profile.
Conversely, if your largest regular part is 150 × 120 × 80 mm, both nominal envelopes accommodate it. In that case, access to the spool, replacement parts, a useful slicer workflow, and the support process can outweigh unused volume.
Use the model-fit calculator to organize dimensions, then slice. The casing size is another measurement entirely; a printer that fits your object may not fit your furniture or give you room to remove its plate.
Price the nozzle, drying, and feeding system together
A material purchase may require more than a hotend temperature listed on the printer. Confirm the grade, nozzle wear requirements, compatible build surface, drying instructions, and whether it can pass through the selected feeder. Check external-spool support separately from automated loading.
The included CANVAS system is useful only if its supported materials and spool format match your plans. A product name containing “Carbon” should not substitute for checking the exact filled filament and installed nozzle. Keep the manufacturer's current compatibility table with your shopping notes.
For the K1C, verify the exact components in the 2025 offer before ordering older K1-family parts or an advertised multicolor upgrade. A planned future accessory should not count as an included feature. Our dryer and storage guide and spool checklist cover the other pieces of this decision.
Use the $1,000 ceiling as a system budget
Here is an illustrative basket for the $399 observed printer: $60 for selected filament, $80 for suitable drying or storage equipment if required, and $40 for missing tools or consumables. The subtotal is $579; at an illustrative 8% tax and no shipping charge it becomes $625.32. Those allowances are examples, not retailer quotes or a list everyone needs.
Substituting the $499 printer into the same example produces $733.32. The $108 difference includes the assumed tax. Change every allowance to match your actual material and what you already own; do not buy a dryer just because this calculation contains one.
Neither calculation includes furniture, room modifications, import charges, or future maintenance. If those are necessary for your setup, add them before deciding the printer is affordable. The remaining money is flexibility, not a target you must spend.
Who should shortlist each—and what to verify
Investigate the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo first when the larger nominal cube and included multicolor system directly match your planned prints. Skip paying for the rest of a bundle if you would leave its filament or accessories unused; compare the selected contents line by line.
Investigate the K1C 2025 when its documented 220 mm square is sufficient and its specific dimensions, service instructions, or available local support fit your needs. The observed higher price needs a reason that matters to you, rather than an assumed performance advantage.
Before ordering either, locate the current setup manual, identify a replacement nozzle or hotend and build plate, confirm the return process, and check actual shipping timing. Save your slicer comparison and the selected basket. That gives you a clear record of why the purchase fits, even if sale prices change tomorrow.
